چکیده

Introduction Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autoinflammatory disorder characterized by recurrent, inflammatory, self-limited episodes of fever and serositis. Neutrophils are one of the key players in the pathophysiology of FMF. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in several inflammatory processes including innate and adaptive immune responses . In addition, MIF has been shown to regulate trafficking of inflammatory cells includingneutrophis to the sites of inflammation. Because its association with innate immunity, leukocyte trafficking, and inflammation MIF may be considered as an attractive cytokine in the pathogenesis of FMF.

O-28: Endometriosis Is Influenced by The Promoter Haplotype-Based Expression of Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF)

Background: Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine that is secreted by accumulated active macrophages in ectopic tissue of endometriosis. MIF is involved in pathophysiological events of endometriosis, such as angiogenesis and cell proliferation. MIF that stimulates the synthesis of PGE2, leads to over-expression of local estradiol synthesis in endometrio...

Increased Levels of Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Patients with Familial Mediterranean Fever

OBJECTIVE To determine the level of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), its relationship with Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene mutations and oxidative stress in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). METHODS Fifty one unrelated attack free FMF patients (24 M and 27 F, 32.8±8.7 years) and 30 healthy controls (16 M and 14 F, 32.7±7 years) were included in the study. Serum MIF, total oxida...

P01-042 – Joint involvement in Armenian children with FMF

Introduction Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) as an ethnic disease is wide-spread in Armenia. In most cases FMF manifests in childhood. Joint involvement is the third major FMF manifestation. It usually presents as acute recurrent arthritis (ARA), arthralgia, more rare chronic arthritis (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, JIA), which are important to better learn more about the overlap between th...

P01-045 – Epilepsy in Armenian children with FMF

Methods We observed 2300 patients with FMF (1408 boys and 892 girls; mean age: 8.86±0.29) in the National Pediatric Centre for FMF. Diagnosis of FMF was based on Tel-Hashomer criteria and MEFV genetic analysis. The epilepsy was diagnosed based on clinical manifestations (>2 unprovoked epileptic seizures),neurological history, exam, EEG and MRI. The statistical analysis was performed using Epi-I...

Correlation between urine macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF)/creatinine ratio and time after kidney transplantation

Abstract  Background: Despite the long-standing association of macrophage migration inhibitory  factor (MIF) with delayed-type hypersensitivity response, the potential role  of MIF in chronic allograft nephropathy is unknown. The association between upregulation of MIF expression, macrophage and T cell infiltration and the severity of  chronic allograft nephropathy suggests that MIF may be an ...
